He Built the Chapel!*

(and has expanded it with each new generation)

* In the movie "Lillies of the Field" the nuns celebrated the completion of their new chapel.
The carpenter (Harry Belafonte) enthusiastically stated, "I built the chapel."
A stern glance from the Mother Superior led to a restatement as, "We built the chapel."
The Mother Superior then lifted her eyes to Heaven and settled the issue,
noting God's providence and grace with an emphatic, "He built the chapel!"

Model marked to show when the various wings were added.

1900 or so?? - No chimneys are visible on street side.
You might just detect a white chimney on manse side.

1920 - There is now a white chimney on manse side.

1930 - There are now railings down the manse-side sidewalk.

1940 - Note the absence of houses to the south of the church.

1950 - Showing the 1949 chancel extension and church school wing.

late 1950s - Showing the 1955 large addition to the church school wing.

after 1965 - Showing the 1965 bell tower, extended chancel, and new roof.
Underneath this and the new transept (at the side) the ground has been dug out
and new basement rooms added. At the front of the church (out of view)
a narthex has been built to add shelter and to increase storage space.

Many housing developments have been built nearby since the 1965 addition.
In 2006 we completed the first phase (shell and finished third floor) of an addition that,
when fully finished, will nearly double the floor area of our church facilities.

2007 - Showing the back of Founders' Hall (from south)
The interiors of 100- and 200-level will be finished during a later stage.
