Lawton Trust

Mr. Joseph Lawton set up this trust fund to be used solely for the benefit of needy people with priority to be given to emergencies in Wilmington and New Castle County areas, but not to exclude needy people in other areas at the discretion of Red Clay Church.
Grant applications to the Lawton Trust are accepted March 1 and September 1 with funding decisions made by November and May 1. Visits by several Commission members are made to verify need and better understand the request.
At the present time approximately $100,000 in grants are funded annually, of which $12,000 is allocated to emergency needs.
